Looking for New Anime Characters to Draw

Need to find new anime characters to sketch? Looking for new heroes and villains to develop? Wanting a new look for your manga story? I have some solution for you and very creative ones at that.

People and pets around you are characters. Go to a busy mall and just sit down and watch as people walk by. Observe their clothes, hairstyle, the way they walk, facial expressions and their speech. I have seen some pretty unusual people that would make great subjects for new manga stories.

Also go to a park or a hiking trail and observe all the scenery, birds and other animals. Sit on a park bench and watch the people as they walk by, see how they walk and play with their dogs. Focus especially on owners and their pet it gives good insight on companionship for the anime character you wish to create who has a trusted friend.

Here is a real good tip and highly recommended. Go to the library and look at books and magazines from different countries, National Geographic magazines for example is a good one. Take note of all the unique and colorful clothes they have on, costume jewelry or handmade ornaments they wear, make note of all the different cultural practices. Notice the buildings, beautiful architecture and vast scenery. The library is not just for reading, it is a gold mind of new ideas.

This is a time you chose to move forward and go to the next level of your drawings because your mind is open to creating characters instead of just copying what someone else has done.
